Giovanni Antonio Sgro (born 16 February 1931, Seminara, Italy), Australian politician, was a Member of the Victorian Legislative Council representing the Australian Labor Party for Melbourne North Province from July 1979 until his retirement in August 1992.
Sgro emigrated to Australia in 1952.[1] He was a painter and decorator. He was founding President of FILEF (Federation of Italian Migrant Workers and their Families) in 1972. He served as electorate secretary to Jim Simmonds, MLA, from 1978-1979.
In Parliament Sgro delivered his maiden speech in the Italian language.[2] He served as Chairman of Committees and Deputy President of the Legislative Council from 1984-1989.[3]
